Most intestinal infections go away after a few days. It is important that you drink plenty of fluids, including water and oral rehydration drinks to avoid symptoms of dehydration. Oral rehydration drinks are available at pharmacies and some supermarkets.
Diarrhea as a result of an intestinal infection can cause a lot of fluid to leak out of the body. Children who refuse water and oral rehydration drinks may drink diluted apple juice in the short term.
